About Me
I've been online since the late '90s, helping build some of the earliest
forums and media
platforms.
I did a decade in corporate technology, but it wasn't for me, so in 2009, after two years of working
on the side, I quit my job and went full time with my first funded startup.
It died in less than a year.
I learned a lot from that experience, and while taking contract work to keep the bills paid, I managed to grow a boutique development agency into mid-six figures revenue before being acquired by Allegrow, where I spent 7 years as the CTO. I never lost my love for startups, and along the way, took advisory positions with a number of promising young companies.
One of them was Pocket Network, a decentralized infrastructure provider, which was my introduction to web3. Three years later, after their successful market launch, I launched the Poktopus brand, using it to drive the growth of the greater Pokt ecosystem.
After gaining more than 6K followers on Twitter and several thousand members in my Telegram groups, I partnered with two friends to cofound poktpool, which became (and remains) the single largest staking operation in the ecosystem. More than 8K people joined our Discord in the first week.
I also joined Druid Ventures, a small cap venture capital fund focused on web3 "picks and shovels" businesses, where I sit on the investment committee, helping evaluate the companies we back from a technology and product market fit perspective.
I've done a ton of public speaking about systems integration, community building, usability, and authority marketing, and have written more technical tutorials and white papers than I can count. In my development work, I've specialized in enterprise class WordPress builds and high compliance front ends (with a focus on AA or better accessibility, and HIPAA / GDPR / CCPA compliance). Usabiity is critical to me, and I'm a passionate evangelist for accessibility.
